Portfolio: Sintra Street Cobbles

Writer's picture: Justus HayesJustus Hayes

My wife, Lisa, and I spent a couple of weeks in Portugal in 2005. We visited Sintra, a beautiful town stuffed with castles and palaces, twice. These limestone cobbles are from a side street there, and are a pretty typical example of what the streets look like when they have not been formed into large black and white patterns (Calçada). As I recall, this particular patch of road was on a fairly steep hill, and as you can see the stones are quite polished. Watch your step!
