My wife, Lisa, has been working at a construction site on the Fraser River for over a year, and I have been driving her to and from work. That means Rowan and I get to spend a lot of time down by the river, and we have seen many dawns there. This particular morning was especially spectacular, and I have many photos at different stages. Here, we see the very early stages of sunrise through a screen of bare winter branches. I love this palette, and I have spent a lot of time working with sunrise and sunset photos in an attempt to harness that universal appeal.

Quite a brisk morning, as I recall. There was still snow on the ground in nearby farmers' fields.
